The Vmar PC 9 Swiss Version is a Beechcraft produced version of the Pilatus PC-9. It is a single engine turboprop jet trainer. It is used by the Swiss Air Force for basic pilot training.

BUILD TODAY and FLY TOMORROW
A.R.F. ( Almost Ready to Fly ) model aircraft are becoming very popular due mainly to their relatively cheap price. They are around 90% pre-built and are quick and easy to get in the air if time is at a premium. It is quite possible to buy an A.R.F. today, put it together tomorrow and go fly it the next day! Generally, all that is needed to build the model is to join the wings, install the horizontal and vertical stabilizers and bolt on the undercarriage. Then all that is needed is to install the engine, fuel tank and radio gear and your finished.
Over the years I have assembled many A.R.F.'s and have never found one that did not fly well. VMAR Manufacturing of Vietnam produce an extensive range of A.R.F.'s with 2 of them being PC9A's in the 'Roulettes' livery. The smaller one has a wingspan of 1530mm and takes engines in the .40 - .50 2 cycle range or .52 - .70 4 cycle range. The big ones wingspan is 2055mm (IMAA legal) and a 1.2 2 cycle is ideal. I have both models and they are a real pleasure to fly, particularly the large one. They take off easily, will do every manoeuvre in the book and are a delight to land.
As with all A.R.F.'s the VMAR PC9 is designed to take an 'average' type and size engine as it would be impossible to produce some models to suit one particular brand of engine and some to suit another brand, and another and another etc. So whilst a particular engine might 'drop in' without any problems, it could well be necessary to make alterations to get a different brand of engine to fit. With a bit of thought this is not an insurmountable problem. It should be remembered that these models are not for beginners therefore purchasers will have some experience in building and will be quite able to make any necessary alterations.
I have a GMS47 in the small PC9 and a GMS120 in the lager PC9. Both of these engines perform extremely well and match the models perfectly.
The instructions books with the kits are good and easy to follow. Always join the wing first and , when the glue has set, bolt it to the fusulage. By doing this you can then line up the stab. and fin with the wing before gluing them in. It is important to have the tail feathers all true and square to the wing to ensure the best possible flight performance. Once the model is together it is a simple matter of installing the servos and connecting up the pushrods, which are already installed. Install the rest of the radio gear, engine, fuel tank and cowl and go fly your PC9.
